Q - On a run play, can the QB or any WR block after the handoff?
A - NO, once the ball is handed off and the running back CROSSES the LOS or when a WR catches the ball, everyone on offense must STOP. There is no blocking whatsoever in flag football
Q - Are we allowed to pitch the ball or throw laterals to the WR?
A - Only thing that can be executed behing the LOS are handoffs. Everytime a QB throws the ball, it MUST be caught BEYOND the line of scrimmage.
Q - Are offensive coaches allowed on the field?
A - Yes, all divisions coaches are allowed on the field to call their plays but then must back away from the offense prior to the snap of the ball.
Q - Is anyone eligible to rush the QB as long as they are behind the rush puck?
A - Yes, in the 9-10 and 11-13 division, any defender that is behind the 7 yard puck prior to the snap is eligible to rush. And yes, you can rush more than 1 person if you chose.
Q - If the QB drops the snap, is it a fumble or deadball?
A - Deadball. There are no fumbles in flag football. Anytime ANY player losses possesion of the ball, the play in blown dead.
Q - Is the QB allowed to roll left or right after the snap?
A - Yes, in the 9-10 and 11-13 division, the QB is allowed to do anything he can to evade the rusher BEHIND the LOS. But he or she can not run pass the LOS unless they received a handoff.
Q - Can I handoff as many times as I want?
A - Yes, but remember that once the first handoff is made, the defense is immediately allowed to come across the LOS
Q - What happens if the defense jumps offsides?
A - In the 5-6 and 7-8 division if the defense goes across the puck PRIOR to the ball being handed off, the ref will throw the penalty but the play will continue. And the conclusion of the play, the offense will either acceot of decline the penalty depending on the result of the play. In the 9-10 division, if the rusher commits (goes past the puck) prior to the ball being snapped, he/she is ineligible to rush for the remainder of that play.
Q -Does the clock stop at all?
A - In the first half and up until the 2 min warning, the clock will only stop when a T.O. is called. After the 2 min warning, the clock will only stop on an incomplete pass, offensive player gets out of bounds or during an extra point.
